OVERVIEW

Standing at a height of 6461 m (21,190 ft), the Mera Peak Climbing, located in the Khumbu Valley, is the highest trekking peak available in Nepal. The climbing has a lot of technical difficulties but also has its own perks for climbers, as it provides a stunning view of the world’s 8000-meter mountains like Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho-Oyu from the summit. The climb demands a very physical, snowy trek with a straightforward climb. Any experienced trekker who is looking for an exhilarating expedition should definitely consider summiting Mera Peak.

The royal Mera Peak is formally the highest trekking peak in Nepal, where trekkers find themselves looking down towards magnificent natural landscapes. The trek provides numerous rare glimpses of watershed areas and heavily wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas from this heavenly space. The rare chance of venturing through areas remotely visited that have yet to be spoiled, allowing the hillsides to remain densely forested for everyone’s pleasure, can be experienced while on this trek. Marching through the uninhabited Hinku valley, there is the availability of Kharka, a place where cattle grazing is done in the Upper Hinku basin, where Sherpas are occasionally seen grazing their cattle during monsoon season, whereas the route through the Upper Hongu Basin will send us through a mountainous wilderness, beautiful forests, massive moraines, glacial lakes, and peaks as spectacular as Baruntse and Charmlang.

Even though the trek does not possess a high rate of technical difficulty, standing at 6476 itself is a vigorous climb with some short, steeper sections of 35-degree snow. Anyone with poor cardio-vascular fitness should think twice before wanting to take on this expedition. In order to succeed in this trek, the climbers need to show a lot of willpower, the ability to tolerate harsh conditions, reasonable fitness, and good health. On the basis of visibility and weather conditions, the best time of the year to summit Mera Peak is during the spring and autumn.
